Rockbridge Mill, on Spring Creek, near Brixey, is now the site of the Rainbow Trout Ranch, a popular fishing resort. Hodgson Mill, built right over Hodgson Mill Spring, is located on Highway 181 where the road crosses Bryant Creek.

Dec 18, 2017Since the water supply of Alley Spring was constant, it seemed to be an ideal place for a mill. Free water power provided energy for the machines; however, recurring floods made the operation only marginally successful. The Alley roller mill was designed to process wheat flour in an area where corn was the main crop.

Everything was wonderful, from the rehearsal dinner to the wedding day. Excellent food, beautiful flowers, delicious cake and the reception room was so pretty. The D.J. was a lot of fun.

Delaware River Mill Society's Prallsville Mills is a historical site in Stockton NJ offering a wide variety of cultural, arts and community activities while also providing tours of the Mill Complex.

The Cedar Creek Grist Mill is a national landmark and a working museum, showing visitors the inside workings of a grist mill of the late 1800s. A covered bridge spanning Cedar Creek was completed in 1994 and continues to draw visitors from all over the United States.

Fifty years later, in 1830, Love's son built The Old Mill on a picturesque spot on the river which quickly became a gathering spot for the community. Local farm families brought wheat, corn and other crops to the mill for grinding, visited, and picked up their mail.

The owner of the mill was Dr. Edward Turner Bale. He received the property in a land grant from the Mexican government and lived near the site until his death in 1849. The mill remained in use until the early 1900s. The mill and its 36-foot water wheel are protected as a state historic landmark and have been partially restored.

This is a delightful working water mill dating back to 1590's where stoneground oatmeal and flours are milled and sold. In the tea room our fresh baking includes cakes, scones, a variety of breads, bagels and rolls. We also serve homemade soup and light lunches.

Nov 18, 2015Delightful restoration of a historic grist mill. The docents do a good job of explaining the process and showing the mill in action. Even on days the mill buildings are closed to the public, the signs in the park area do a good job explaining the mill and the Civil War battle that occurred in Aldie.
